Will Mohanlal Outsmart Mammootty Again This Year?
In this Pooja Season, we saw a big battle at Mollywood Box office and it was between Mohanlal and Mammootty, the Big M’s of Mollywood. Mohanlal’s movie Pulimurugan directed by Vysakh and Mammootty’s movie Thoppil Joppan directed by Johny Antony had graced the screens here on October 7th. When Mohanlal movie got 214 screens here in Kerala, Mammootty movie had got only 100 screens. The battle was easily won by Mohanlal as his Pulimurugan had got stunning responses from all over and it had now become a record-breaking success in Mollywood. Mammootty movie Thoppil Joppan had only got average reviews and it had done a decent business at box office. Pulimurugan is now the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time, breaking the 3 years long Drishyam’s record. Pulimurugan is all set to enter 100 crore club and is almost sure that it will be the first ever movie in Mollywood to do so. Now reports are coming in that Mohanlal and Mammootty will lock horns at the box office once again this year. It may be in this December, as Mohanlal- Jibu Jacob movie Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol (MVT) and Mammootty- Haneef Adeni movie The Great Father may hit the screens on the same day.
Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol (MVT) was expected to release on November 4th. The enormous success of Oppam and Pulimurugan had made the producer to postpone the release of the movie. The movie will hit the screen on December 22nd as a Christmas release. The changed release date was officially announced by Weekend Blockbusters, the production company of MVT, through their official page. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s The Great Father is also expecting a Christmas release.
This will result in another clash of Big M’s in Box Office. Now people are looking forward to know who will win the battle. Will Mohanlal outsmart Mammootty again..? That is the question in everybody’s mind now.
