His movie Pulimurugan is breaking all existing records in the box office history of Mollywood. The flick has been doing extraordinary business in both domestic and overseas market and it had created all these records in just 36 day time as well. Now, Mohanlal had created a new box office history at Calicut City as well with Pulimurugan. The film had earned 1.51 crore+ from the single screens in the Calicut City within 36 days and with that Mohanlal became the only actor here in Kerala who have two 1.50 crore+ grossing movie from the single screens at Calicut City.
In 2013-14, his movie Drishyam had grossed 1.50 crore+ from the single screens of Calicut City and the final gross of the movie from the single screens there was 1.69 crore. Puli Murugan is expected to gross over 2 crores from the single screens there and if it happens, then it will become the first movie to gross 2 crores from Calicut single screens alone. Pulimurugan had already grossed above 1 crore from Calicut PVS Film City and the total earnings of the movie from Calicut City alone is 2.5 crore+, as of now. The movie had done a total business over 100 crores from 1 month and the theatrical collection of the movie will alone touch 100 crore mark soon as well.
