Why Mammootty not got ready to act in Chanakyan?
There is always interesting stories behind every popular movie in our industry. Many rumors also come associated with movies and some of them later revealed to be true as well. Chanakyan is one of the super hit movies made in Malayalam starring Jayaram and Kamal Hassan. It was the directorial debut of T K Rajeev Kumar who had later made many movies here in Mollywood. The film Chanakyan was released in the year 1989 and the director wants to cast Mammootty in the lead role in that movie. But Mammootty not got ready to act in the movie siting different reasons. He said that he had given his dates to 10 projects and because of that he did not have time to do Chanakyan.
But sources from industry told some other reasons for his denial to do this movie. Actor Thilakan was there in the movie playing a prominent character in it. Mammootty was not in good terms with Thilakan during that time as well. Some say that he did not want to do a movie which has Thilakan playing a character which is as important as his character in the movie. There were some reports which said that, unlike today, Mammootty not wants to work with a newcomer at that time. That is why he avoided the project.
Anyway, Kamala Hasan had accepted that project with both hands and it became a super success as well.
