Chalakkudikkaran Changathi Review: An emotional tribute To Kalabhavan Mani

The much-awaited biopic of late Actor Kalabhavan Mani had graced the screens here today in Kerala. The movie titled Chalakkudikkaran Changathi has been directed by popular director Vinayan and it has been written by Vinayan & Ummer Muhammed. Popular mimicry and TV Artist Rajamani had played the character of Kalabhavan Mani in this biopic, which was produced by Gladstone. The trailer and songs from this movie had already made the audience emotionally attached to the film, as Kalabhavan Mani was one of the most loved actors and human being in Kerala.

As you all know, this is the biopic of late Kalabhavan Mani and there is no need of introduction for him among Malayalees. This film focuses on his life before and after he becomes a film star. It tells us about the struggles he went through as a young man before he becomes a popular and celebrated actor. But at the same time, it tells us the events that happened in his life till his death as well.

Vinayan is a master when it comes to making emotionally appealing films which will touch your heart. He, in fact, made a lot of such movies with Kalabhavan Mani in the lead as well. Mani had acted in almost 13 of Vinayan’s movies and there is nobody better than Vinayan to make Mani’s biopic, we think. Vinayan had made sure that the film focuses on Mani, the human being, more than Kalabhavan Mani, the film star. The screenplay by him and Ummer Muhammad has been great and it has been structured in a way that you all will get to see Kalabhavan Mani in front you again. The emotional moments in the screenplay has been presented very well. But at the same time, they made it as an entertainer as well by presenting the plot in an engaging manner.

The performance from Rajamani as Kalabhavan Mani was just superb. He had lived on screen as Mani. He became Mani in his looks, body language, and dialogue delivery. It was like seeing our beloved Kalabhavan Mani alive in front of us again and it was really emotional as well. It was his one-man show all the way. Other artists like Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sreekumar, Vishnu, Kalabhavan Sinaj, Ramesh Pisharody, Salim Kumar, Kottayam Nazeer, Joju George, Kochu Preman, Sudheer Karamana, Honey Rose etc too did a good job in the movie.

Prakash Kutty had given some realistic and colorful visuals for this movie and editing by Abhilash Vishwanath had given the movie enough pace to engage the audience. Kalabhavan Mani’s songs were used in this movie. Bijipal and Satheesh had handled the music department of this film and they did a fine job as well.

Overall, Chalakkudikkaran Changathi can be called as a tribute to Kalabhavan Mani who has been considered as one of the finest actor we have seen here in Mollywood, and a great human being. It will really make you emotional for sure and at the same time, will make you relive all those moments with Kalabhavan Mani.
