Lakshyam Movie Review: A thrilling ride with two culprits!
Lakshyam, the much-anticipated movie directed by the debutant Ansar Khan had released here in Kerala this Saturday (May 6). The movie becomes much anticipated due to one name and that is Jeethu Joseph, the master director, who wrote the screenplay of this thriller. Jeethu Joseph had produced this flick as well and he had bankrolled this movie in association with Joy Thomas Shakathikulangara and Teji Manalel under banners named JT Films and Vintage Movies. Kalasangham had distributed this movie here in Kerala. The story of this flick has been written by the director himself and he had made a telefilm as well based on this story some years back.
The plot of this flick revolves around two characters named Musthafa and Vimal played by Biju Menon and Indrajith Sukumaran respectively. Both of them are in Police custody. Vimal is charged with murder and Musthafa is with theft. While the police were transferring these two from Peerumedu to Ernakulam, there happens an accident and these two convicts escape from police custody to a forest area. From there begins the thrill.
We can say that this one is a very well made thriller and after two disappoints like Life of Josootty and Oozham, Jeethu Joseph had made a great come back as a writer. His screenplay was too good and it had all the elements in it to make the audience engaged in the movie till the very end. It was a thrilling ride through a forest with two convicts. The twists and turns in the plot were brilliant and the interval punch was just terrific. Ansar Khan had made a great impression as a director as he had presented the plot with perfection. The shots, the way of telling the story etc were very good and he had complete control over the proceedings. He had used the artists very well too.
It is not a movie that reveals a suspense at the tail end and stuns the audience. The suspense element will be out in the open even before the second half. But it makes the audience curious and anxious to know what will happen next and that’s the success of this movie. Biju Menon and Indrajith were just superb as the two protagonists. Biju Menon’s comic one-liners were accepted very by the audience. Shivada, Kishore Sathya, Sudhi Koppa, Shammy Thilakan etc were also very good.
The cinematography by Sinu Sidharth was terrific and his frames elevated this movie to another level. Editing from Ayoob Khan was very good and another factor which made this film a superb one is the background scoring by Anil Johnson.
In total, Lakshyam is a very good thriller which will engage you each and every minute. It has everything in it as an entertainer and you will not be disappointed after watching this movie. It is indeed a fresh thrilling experience.
