Veeram is a fusion of Chandu and Macbeth, says director Jayaraj!
Master Director Jayaraj is coming up with his next named Veeram and it is a biggie. The film is touted as one of the biggest films ever made in Malayalam and it will screen first at the BRICS Festival at Delhi as an opening film of the festival. The movie will release here only by the end of this year and they are planning to release it in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and English as well apart from Malayalam. Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor is playing the lead in this movie in which many technicians from Hollywood also roped in to work. Jayaraj is made this movie based on the famous character Macbeth created by William Shakespeare. He said that the character in this movie is a fusion of both Macbeth and Chandu from folklore songs of Kerala.
The plot of the movie is set in the 13th century Kerala, at the Malabar area of the state. The lead character in the movie is a warrior as well. We have already seen the character of Chandu played by Mammootty in the movie named Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, written by MT Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan. This Chandu from Veeram will have a difference from that one because of the blending Jayaraj had made with Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
