On this Friday (April 21), Biju Menon starrer Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu, has been released here in Kerala. The movie released without any hype. The movie being the third directorial venture of popular script writer Ranjan Pramod had Biju Menon playing the lead role.
Trailer:
Even though its teaser and trailer looked good, we can say that it was not a much-anticipated movie in this season of big releases. But now, it emerged as a surprise winner among the Vishu releases here in Mollywood. This movie has been produced by 100th Monkey Movies.
The plot of this movie revolves around the title character named Baiju played by Biju Menon. He is a government employee who works in the irrigation department. He is also the patron of a sports club in his village named Kumbalam. He is very fond of sports and games, especially cricket. He is the captain of the cricket team there and daily he plays cricket with youngsters. The film tells about how he goes about in his daily life, his family life and it shows us his relationship with the members of his club and friends.
We have to say that it is the most realistic entertainer that came here in Mollywood recently. Ranjan Pramod had written a beautiful screenplay which has full of life in it. Each and every character had their own identity and the situations in the plot were realistic to the core. The dialogues were funny and the whole movie goes forward through light-hearted events mixed with comedy and emotion. The way Ranjan had directed this movie deserves great appreciation as well. He had presented it in such a way that each and every viewer who watches it feels that it is their own story. It will take each and every one of us to a trip down the memory lane. It will make us nostalgic and it will make all of us young at heart again.
The performance from Biju Menon as Baiju was just stunning and he had just lived as the character. In his looks, movements and in dialogue delivery too, he completely becomes Baiju and he was so natural as well. It was his best performance after Vellimoonga. Other artists like Deepak Parambol, Aju Varghese, Haarish Kanaran, Unni Rajan P Dev, Vijaya Raghavan, Indrans, Janardhanan, Dileesh Pothen, Hanna Reji Koshy, Alencier etc also done a great job and the comic one-liners from Deepak, Aju, Haarish etc were superb too. All the characters were so natural and all of them makes us feel like we are not watching a movie, but a life story in front of us.
The DOP from Prashant Raveendran was beautiful and the music scored by Bijipal was so soothing and blended really well with the situations and mood in the plot. Editing by Samjith was also great as we will never feel any lag in 2.42-hour long movie.
In total, Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu is a movie experience which will make you happy, nostalgic and energetic. Never miss this wonderful cinema at any cost as it not only gives you entertainment but will give you a realization about what you have lost and what our current generation is losing.
