Mammootty’s Peranbu aiming to become the first Tamil release in China?
Peranbu, Ram directional movie with Mollywood Superstar Mammootty in the lead, is making headlines for several months as the movie received many International recognitions. The movie was well received when it was screened at International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). This makes, movie lovers to wait for the theatrical release.
The latest news is that, after the movie fetched great reception at Shanghai Internation film festival, leading distribution companies in China approached the makers to grab China distribution rights. A source says that Peranbu team confirmed this news and stated that they are in talks with Chinese companies about the business deal. Once agreement on the financial part is made, the team will announce it officially.
If things go the right way, Pernbu will become the first Tamil movie to release in China. After Aamir Khan movies like Dangal and PK, Indian movies are now getting a great demand in China. With 45000 screens, China is a huge market for movies. Even small releases in China is given 2000 – 3000 screens.
Along with Mammootty, Peranbu also stars Anjali, Sadhana, Anjali Ameer, Samuthirakani, Suraj Venjaramood, Siddique, and others. The movie is expected to hit the big screens in India this September.
