Google’s new devices in Nexus line 5X and 6P are all set to release in India by October end. Google’s new flagship devices Nexus 5X and 6P were announced earlier this week. This Google partners with two different companies this year to develop their new Nexus devices. LG manufactured Nexus 5X and Huawei manufactured Nexus 6P are the new lineup devices in the Nexus family. This is the first collaboration of Google with Huawei.
These are the devices in Nexus line after Nexus 6. ‘X’ and ‘P’ in the names stands for respectively the core of the Nexus brand and the premium. The devices will be made available online as well through retail stores across the country. According to Google store, Nexus 5X 16GB version is priced at Rs. 31,900 and Rs. 35,900 for 32GB version. The premium device 5P cost you Rs. 39,999 for the 32GB version and Rs. 42,999 for the 64GB version.
In countries like US, UK, Ireland and Japan the devices are available for pre-ordering. In India, Google has made a partnership with two E-commerce companies for selling the devices. Both the devices are powered by Google’s latest Marshmallow OS.
The main hardware highlights of both devices include a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, a new reversible USB Type-C charging port that enables faster charging and of course, a better camera. The camera uses Sony sensor and has larger 1.55 micron pixels that can collect even more light than iPhone 6S Plus which uses 1.22-micron pixels. Nexus Imprint, the new fingerprint sensor system, is able to recognize touch under 600 milliseconds. Another important feature is Android 6.0’s Doze, that is able to save battery by learning about when the device is unattended and enable standby mode to some apps. In this way, 30% battery life can be saved. Upgraded Google’s voice-activated assistant known as ‘Google Now on Tap’ can be used to recognize context-sensitive commands based on what you’re doing with the phones. Other features include improved notifications that are able to notify about remaining time to attain full charge, search faster, faster reactions to voice commands from your phone’s lock screen, faster scrolling through the app drawer. Another important feature is the ability to grant permissions to apps only at a time that really require it. Some app may require GPS access and call access. In this case, this feature is very useful.

Coming to the specifications of the phones, 5X features a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel Full HD LCD display while 5P has a little bit larger 5.7 inches 2560 x 1440 pixel WQHD AMOLED display. 5X has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and Adreno 418 GPU while 5P comes with Snapdragon 810 CPU and A. The photography lovers, both devices have a 12.3 MP primary camera with f/2.0 lens and IR laser – assisted autofocus. For selfie lovers, 5X has a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 lens and 5P has 8MP camera. 5X comes in two different storage capacity – 16GB and 32GB while 5P comes in 32/64/128 GB versions. 5X has 2GB LPDDR3 RAM while 5P has 3GB RAM. Battery capacity for 5X and 6P are respectively 2700 mAh and 3450 mAh respectively. Both devices have NFC (Near Field Communications) support. Wireless charging is one of the features that is missing in these devices.
