Now Moto X can be updated to Marshmallow! Moto X Generation 2 can be updated to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow as Indian users have started receiving the update.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is about 880 MB. Marshmallow is the latest Android version and was first released 2 months ago. Now, Moto X users can enjoy the latest features of Marshmallow.
Some of the key features of Marshmallow are:
- Google Now on Tap features
- Android Pay mobile payment system
- New fingerprint APIs for developers to add into their apps
- New silent feature for sound and vibrate mode as well as ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications
- Revamped app permissions
- Battery saver features called Doze that can give better power management.

- Google Now on Tap feature
- New Chrome features that can enhance web experience
- New ways to handle Web links
For Moto X users, some changes are made to Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Moto Assist feature is removed and ‘Do not Disturb’ option can be found under the ‘Sound and Notification’ settings.
According to Motorola blog post, as Android M enhances backing up user data and duplicates most of Motorola Migrate results in removing Motorola Migrate option. Also, Google Chrome extension is removing from Motorola Connect.
The company says that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is due to reach Moto X (Gen 2) in regions including Asia, Canada, Latin America, and Europe in phases. For the US, only Moto X Pure Edition will be receiving the update.
The devices that will get Android M update include Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen), Moto X Style (3rd gen), Moto X Play (2015), Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen), Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen), Moto G, Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen), Moto G (3rd gen), DROID Turbo, Moto MAXX, Moto Turbo and Nexus 6.
