96 Remakes: Samantha and Bhavana to reprise Trisha’s role in Telugu and Kannada respectively
96, the movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead, was a phenomenal success and got rave reviews from critics and audience alike. This Tamil movie was a big hit in Kerala too and the movie is now being remade in Telugu and Kannada.
Sharwanand and Samantha are playing the central characters in the Telugu version of 96. The movie will be directed by C Prem Kumar, who helmed the original movie. Sri Venkateshwara Creations is bankrolling this movie.
Reports also suggest that the Telugu version got some major changes as the 1996 story in the original movie will be set to happen in 2009. The lead actor Sharwanand himself will play the younger version too and unlike the original which got the story of school days, this will focus on college days.
On the other hand, the lead roles in the Kannada version will be played by Golden star Ganesh and Bhavana. This movie is titled as 99.
