Big Tamil releases are on the way; Will these movies affect Mollywood films?
From next week onwards, big Tamil films will hit the screens here at a regular interval and reports say that they are aiming for record release here. There is a concern among the film lovers in Kerala that the flurry of Tamil releases may affect the upcoming big releases in Mollywood.
Next week, Vishwaroopam 2 starring and directed by Kamala Hasan will grace the screens. Then comes Seema Raja starring Sivakarthikeyan in September. Vikram will come up with Saamy 2 by the third week of September as well.
Dhanush’s two films are getting ready for release as per reports. Gautham Menon’s Ennai Nokki Payum Thottai may be released by the end of September and in October, Vetri Maran’s Vaada Chennai will be released. Vijay’s big release named Sarkar will grace the screens in November first week and Suriya’s NGK too aiming for a Diwali release.
Enthiran 2 aka 2.0, the biggest movie in India will grace the screens on November 29th. In this 3-4 months, there will be a lot of Mollywood movies to release as well including some biggies like Kayamkulam Kochunni and Odiyan. But, as our exhibitors always give more preference to Tamil films, film lovers are concerned that Tamil releases will deny big releases and may affect the screen count of big Mollywood films like Odiyan or Kayamkulam Kochunni. We have to wait and see whether big Tamil releases become a thorn in the flesh for Malayalam Cinema.
