What was the relation between Prithviraj and Drishyam?
Drishyam, the Mohanlal- Jeethu Joseph movie is still the biggest ever success seen by Malayalam Cinema. In Mollywood Box office, Drishyam is standing at the top like a boss and no other films ever posed a threat to the records made by this Mohanlal starrer, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film was remade in 4 different Indian languages as well and it is the second Malayalam movie after the classic Mohanlal film Manichithrathazhu to achieve this feat. In Hindi, Telugu and Kananda languages, the title remained the same and in Tamil, it has been titled as Papanasham. Director Jeethu Joseph said that there is a connection between Prithviraj and the title given to this movie.
Jeethu had shared the details of this story with Prithviraj earlier and once in a Media interview, Jeethu told that it was Prithviraj who said that he really want to see this movie with Mohanlal in the lead. But Jeethu can’t able to find a good title for the movie and news spread that he titled it as My Family. When Prithviraj heard about this, he told Jeethu that this title is not at all good and the film needs a great Malayalam title. Then Jeethu read the script once again before the shoot and from the screenplay itself, he got the word Drishyam and he made it the title of the movie. The rest is history.
