From Behind the Scenes to the Spotlight: Dixon Poduthas Takes His First Lead Role in ‘Sub Inspectorude Thoppi‘
Sub Inspectorude Thoppi (The Sub-Inspector’s Cap), a short film directed by acclaimed cinema still photographer Mohan Surabhi, has begun shooting in Thodupuzha. In a surprising turn, the lead role of the sub-inspector is being played by none other than Dixon Poduthas, a prominent production controller in the film industry.
While working on a feature film produced by M. Ranjith and directed by Tarun Murthy, Mohan Surabhi approached Dixon with the concept of this short film. Initially, Dixon believed it to be a minor part, given his past experience with small roles in films. However, he was taken aback when asked to play the protagonist.
The short film presents a lighthearted and whimsical narrative, focusing on the entertaining relationship between a police officer and his pet cat. Dixon, donning the police uniform, delivered a powerful and convincing performance, embodying the strength and authority of a real-life officer. His portrayal of the sub-inspector was both energetic and commanding, leaving a strong impression on the director.
The cinematography is handled by Jayan R. Unnithan, and Mohan Surabhi couldn’t stop praising Dixon’s exceptional portrayal of the police character Alex Kurien, lauding his unique style and ability to bring depth to the role.
