Rosapoo Movie Review: Half-baked and disappointing show

One of the major releases that had hit the screens here in Kerala today was Rosapoo directed by Vinu Joseph. The director himself had written the screenplay and the dialogues were penned by Santhosh Echikkanam. Shibu Thameens had bankrolled this flick under the banner named Thameens films. Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav play the lead characters in this movie and the female lead character was played by Anjali. Sobin Shahir and Dinesh Prabhakar too playing important characters in this flick.

The plot of this comedy entertainer revolves around two men who are set out to make an adults only movie, in the year 2001. Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav are the ones who want to make a movie. Biju Menon plays Shajahan and Neeraj Madhav plays Ambrose. The film shows us their effort to make a movie and get some profit which can solve their financial issues.

Vinu Joseph had tried to present a simple plot in an entertaining manner. It seems that he aimed at the young audience while writing the screenplay of this film, as there are many sequences in this flick which were intended to appeal more to the younger audience. But at most of the time, it failed to get the desired result. The dialogues were hilarious at parts and the plot situations were totally unconvincing. Vinu Joseph tried to include everything in it, to make it a complete entertainer. But the lack of conviction in the screenplay and mediocre making made the movie literally a boring affair.

Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav had formed quite a team nowadays as this combo once again sizzled on screen, with whatever they got. Their chemistry has been great. The comedy timing of these actors made the film hilarious at parts. Biju Menon’s dialogue delivery style was superb and Neeraj Madhav’s expressions were funny enough to produce laughter even though the screenplay provided them with nothing. Soubin Shahir had done a terrific job once again with his unique style of dialogue delivery. Anjali who played the female lead had done a decent job and others like Dileesh Pothan, Sudheer Karamana, Dinesh Prabhakar, Alencier, Basil Joseph, Nirmal, Salim Kumar, Vijaya Raghavan etc also done their part well and performance from artists are the only positive of this flick.

Music was scored by Sushin Shyam and it was just average. Jebin Jacob is the one who cranked the camera for this flick. He had provided the movie with colorful and cool visuals. Vivek Harshan had edited the flick. But the film lagged in many areas and there was no flow at all, in presenting the plot.

In total, Rosapoo ended up as a disappointing and Half-baked movie, which offers you nothing but yawns inside the cinema hall.
