Punyalan Private Limited Review: Wholesome entertainment is here!
The major Malayalam release which had graced the screens here in Kerala today was Punyalan Private Limited, which is the sequel to the super hit movie named Punyalan Agarbattis. It was written and directed by Ranjith Shankar and starred by Jayasurya. Like Punyalan Agarbattis, Ranjith Shankar and Jayasurya themselves produced the sequel too. They had started a new distribution banner named Punyalan Cinemas and Punyalan Private Limited is their first distribution venture under this banner. The flick had generated great anticipation level through its promotional strategies.
The plot of this movie revolves around the protagonist named Joy Thakkaolkkaran who lost everything because of bank loan issuers. Then he launches a new product named Punyalan Water. But he has to face some issues from our social and political systems and the film shows his lone battle against the system.
We have to say that Ranjith Shankar had given a superb sequel to Punyalan Agarbathees. The screenplay was well written and he presented social issues through humorous situations in the plot. The dialogues were hilarious and sharp. He had criticized many ongoing political and social issues, in a satirical manner. As a director too, he had a full grip on the proceedings and never let the plot to go out of his control. He has been fantastic, both as a writer and director. It was a well-crafted movie which will entertain you very well and at the same time raises some questions related to our socio-political scenario.
When it comes to performances, Jayasurya was once again rocked the show with his natural and stunning act. He has been fantastic with his Thrissur slang and portrayed the character named Joy Thakkolkkaran with conviction. Sreejith Ravi once again stole the show with his hilarious presentation of Abhayan and other like Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sunil Sugatha, Aju Varghese, Vijaya Raghavan, Jayaraj Warrier, Arya, Vishnu Govindan, Guinness Pakru, Vinod Kovoor, Ponnamma Babu etc also done their part to perfection.
Bijipal and Anand Madhusoodanan had tuned the music for this film. Songs and background scoring blended very well with the visuals provided by Vishnu Narayanan. V Sajan did a fine job as an editor as he had provided a smooth flow to this movie with sharp and crisp cuts.
Usually, sequels come out well rarely. But when the sequel becomes a better cinematic experience than the first part, it can be called a rarest of rare incidents. Punyalan Private Limited is one such unique movie which will provide you wholesome entertainment along with giving you some food for thought. Don’t Miss it.
