Oru Yamandan Premakadha Review: Relax and enjoy the fun ride
Oru Yamandan Premakadha is the big Malayalam release here in Kerala today and it was indeed a much- anticipated movie of this year. This one is the first directorial venture of BC Noufal and the flick has been written by Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George, who are the writers of blockbusters like Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan. Dulquer Salmaan is making a comeback to Mollywood after one and a half years through this movie and the flick has been produced by Anto Joseph and C R Salim. The teaser and song video of this flick had got a great reception from the audience and it had increased the hype around the flick as well.
The plot of the movie is set in Kochi and it revolves around the character named Lallu played by Dulquer Salmaan. Lallu is born in a rich family as the son of a popular advocate named John Kombanayil. But he decided to choose a different lifestyle and went to work as a local painter along with the locals. The flick shows the incidents happen in his life and his effort to find out his soul-mate.
We can say that the debutant named BC Noufal had made a decent debut with this film which aims only at pure entertainment and nothing else. The screenplay by Vishnu and Bibin was good and they had done a decent job too by incorporating elements like comedy, action, and romance in a simple plot. The first half of the film was thoroughly entertaining with a lot of hilarious moments. But the second half lost a bit of pace and climax too was not that much impressive, when compared to their previous films. Noufal, as a director, had managed to hold the film in control till the last and that was a positive factor. The length of the flick was the main culprit here because 2 hours and 40 minutes is a bit too much to tell the simple plot which this film has.
Performance from Dulquer Salman was, as usual, was terrific as he had played his character with ease. His screen presence, dialogue delivery style, and expressions were superb and it was fresh to see him like that. Apart from him, Salim Kumar and Vishnu Unnikrishnan had made the audience laugh a lot. Actors like Soubin Shahir, Harish Kanaran, Dharmajan, Renji Panicker, Dileesh Pothan, Arun Kurian, Sunil Sugatha, Ashokan, Baiju, Kottayam Pradeep, Suraaj, Lena, etc also done a great job. Female leads in this movie were played by Samyuktha Menon and Nikhila Vimal. They did a fine job as well, even though they did not have much of screen space in the film.
DOP from P Sukumar was beautiful as he provided rich and colorful visuals which were a treat for the eyes. Music from Nadirsha too was energetic. John Kutty once again had done a decent job as an editor and his cuts given flow to the proceedings, especially in the first half.
In Total, Oru Yamandan Premakadha is a one-time watchable film which will never let you down. You can forget all your tensions and just relax inside the cinema hall watching this film if you only want that and nothing else.
