Neerali is indeed one of the much-awaited movies of this year, as it has been after a gap of eight months that Mohanlal is coming up with a release. Bollywood director Ajoy Varma is making his debut here in Mollywood through this film and the screenplay was written a debutant writer named Saju Thomas. When Mohanlal had given his dates for a completely new team, everyone was shocked at first and then believed that it may be because there is something fresh in the plot.
Just like that, the plot of this movie is very different, fresh and we can say that it can be called as a never seen before kind of plot in Mollywood. The story develops around the character named Sunny George, a Gemologist, who starts a journey back to his wife who is pregnant. But during that journey there happens a big accident and Sunny along with the driver of the vehicle got trapped in a scary and terrible situation. Just like the tagline of this movie says, do or die is the situation in which they are in and the film shows us whether they will survive or not.
Fear is the main human emotion that has been presented through this movie and director Ajoy Varma had done a terrific job by presenting it in the best possible manner. The screenplay by Saju Thomas was tight and it has everything in it to keep the audience at the edge of their seats the whole time. It has suspense, twist and turns and it creates a kind of anxiety and fear in the mind of the audience too. It can be called a survival thriller in which nature is the antagonist and both the writer and director had done a fantastic job by presenting it with brilliance.
The performance of Mohanlal is the backbone of this movie. We can say that it was a kind of one man show from him. The way he played the character was just stunning and he just made the audience to feel his pain, fear, and agony. His expressions and body language were just fantastic to say the very least. Suraj Venjaramoodu had done a great job as Veerappa and Dileesh Pothan too did well as Rajan. Nadiya Moidu as Molly and Parvathy as Naina did their part well and Nassar has done his part with perfection.
The DOP by Santhosh Thundiyil was awesome and VFX team also did a fabulous job. Music was scored by Stephen Devassy. His songs were great and background scoring had set the mood of the film. Director Ajoy Varma along with Sajith Unnikrishnan had edited this film and they never let the pace of the movie to come down.
On the whole, Neerali can be called as an amazing survival thriller which will give you a never seen before cinematic experience. It will satisfy every kind of audience and will be remembered not only for its plot and making style but also for the stunning performance of Mohanlal, the Complete Actor.
