Even though we have a lot of highly talented actors here in Mollywood and we love all of them, Mohanlal is special for each and every Malayali. People here are crazy about him and without any exaggeration, we can say that he is an emotion here in this part of the world. Anything and everything related to him is a celebration here and this movie named ‘Mohanlal tells us about that passion and love towards Mohanlal, from Keralites.

Even though it tells the story of a lady named Meenu Kutty who is a diehard fan of Mohanlal right from her childhood, the film also focuses on the way he influenced multiple generations here. Right from the opening scene, we have been drawn into the world of nostalgia and from that very moment, the Mohanlal fan in each and every Malayali will start to feel that passion.

It tells us about how the passionate admiration of Meenukutty towards Mohanlal changes her life and how the ones around her influenced by it. Writer Suneesh Varanad had done a great job by creating plot situations which will entertain you and at the same time give you the emotional appeal and nostalgia for which you are waiting for, as a Mohanlal fan and as a film lover. Sajid Yahiya had, in fact, made a statement through this movie that never ever judge a filmmaker with one failure and there is always a chance to come back big. After the failure of his first film named Idi, he had made a terrific come back through Mohanlal.

The way he presented the story needs to be appreciated. The presentation of each and every character in the plot deserves mention. The characterization was superb and he had made it a feast for every kind of audience. That is what made this movie a fabulous one. It has everything in it to cater the expectation of the viewers. In almost every frame in this flick, there are Mohanlal references and we have to say that it becomes the soul of this flick.

While Manju Waryar had played eccentric fan named Meenu Kutty with great energy, Indrajith also needs applause for his superb performance as Sethu Madhavan. His comedy timing was impeccable and the chemistry between him and Manu Waryar has been great as well. Others like Soubin Shahir, Aju Varghese, Harish Kanaran, Salim Kumar, KPAC Lalitha, Balachandran Chullikkad, Biju Kuttan, Kottayam Nazeer, Sunil Sugatha, Kottayam Pradeep, Sudhi Koppa, Baby Meenakshi, Master Vishal, Sethulakshmi etc also done their part to perfection.

Shaji Kumar’s DOP and Shameer Muhammad’s editing made it a technically brilliant movie. The visuals were cool and colorful and the cuts by Shameer had given a decent pace to the narration. Tony Joseph’s songs stand out as he had done a fabulous job. The Background scoring by Prakash Alex too has been great.

‘Mohanlal’ is a trip down memory lane which will give you the glimpses of the golden period of Mollywood. At the same time, it is an emotional journey through the career of Superstar Mohanlal as well. By making it a fun-filled complete family entertainer, Sajid Yahiya made sure that ‘Mohanlal’ will appeal to both fans and families. It will wake up the Mohanlal fan inside all Keralites for sure.
