Karna with Mammootty is not yet shelved, says Madhupal
Last year, two movies based on the same character from Mahabharatha has been announced in Mollywood. These movies were based on the character of Karna. RS Vimal-Prithviraj team had announced a big budget movie based on this character and they even launched it with a motion poster. Then came the announcement that Mammootty will play this character too and it will be directed by Madhupal.
P Sreekumar had written the screenplay for this film. But later he said that there is no producer for this project as it demands a budget around 75 crores. In the meantime, Prithviraj had opted out from RS Vimal’s project because of his tight schedule and RS Vimal had announced that he will do it with Chiyaan Vikram in the lead.
They are planning to make it in Hindi and Tamil and the movie has been titled as Mahavir Karna. Now, Madhupal recently said in a media interview that his Mammootty project is not yet shelved and they are waiting for things to fall in the right places to start the project.
His latest movie named ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ with Tovino Thomas in the lead will grace the screens on the 9th of November. Even though there are no updates regarding whether he got a producer to bankroll this Karna project, his words had given hope for the fans of Mammootty at least.
