Malayalam Cinema 2019: Check out the Year-end box office report
2019 is in its final lap now and it has been an average year of Mollywood. We had seen some huge hits and also some big flops this year. Some films got great critical reception along with applause from the audience. Now, Malayala Manorama had published the list of films that made money this year.
As per the report, only 7 Malayalam movies got box office hit status this year. The films which got profit from its theater run are Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, Kumbalangi Nights, Lucifer, Uyare, Thanneermathan Dinangal, Android Kunjappan, and Kettyolanu Ente Malakha. In these films, Prithviraj’s debut directorial venture Lucifer starring Superstar Mohanlal in the lead is biggest hit of this year.
In the list of films that made a profit from it’s digital and satellite rights, there are 16 ones. Allu Ramachandran, Oru Adaar Love, June, Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel, Mera Nam Shaji, Athiran, Oru Yamandan Prema Kadha, Ishq, Virus, Unda, Pathinettam Padi, Porinju Mariyam Jose, Love action Drama, Ittimani Made in China, Brothers Day and Helen are those 16 films.
They have not considered Christmas releases including Mammootty’s Mamankam as those films are still running in screens here in Kerala. The final figures for those films will only be available next year. According to them, 800 crores have been invested in Mollywood through 192 films in 2019 and the loss was 550 crores.
