Madhura Raja Review: Vysakh strikes again with a complete mass entertainer
Madhura Raja, one of the most anticipated Mammootty movies of this year had hit the screens all over the world today. There was great hype around the movie as it is the sequel of a super hit movie which was released way back in 2010. This movie Madhura Raja has been directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaya Krishna and they had joined hands after the gigantic success of Pulimurugan, which was released in 2016. A newcomer named Nelson Ipe had bankrolled this project, which is said to be the biggest budget Malayalam movie in Mammootty’s career till now. The posters and trailer of this film had got great appreciations from the audience as well.
The plot of this movie focusses on the life of Raja, the character we saw in the film Pokkiri Raja, played by Mammootty. We know how he becomes Madhura Raja. This film shows why he comes to a place named Pambin Thuruthu and what happens there, after his arrival.
Vysakh had shown us his potential to make mass films many times, and Pulimurugan was the biggest example of that. The success of Pulimurugan had elevated him to another league and he became one of the most sought after directors in Mollywood after that movie. We have to say that once again Vysakh had done a fabulous job as a filmmaker through this movie named Madhura Raja. His experience and also the skill as a director had helped this movie to become something very special for the audience, especially for the fans of Mammootty. But the credit goes to Udaya Krishna as well here, because of the exciting screenplay which he had written for this flick. Both Vysakh and Udaya Krishna made sure that Madhura Raja had everything in it to make the fans and film lovers excited till the last moment.
Mammootty has once again given a sterling performance as Raja. He has been just great in this movie. The transformation of him as Raja was superb and he just rocked on the screen as the title character. His screen presence, dialogue delivery and also the way in which he did the action scenes were just fantastic. Tamil young actor Jai had complimented him really well with his decent performance. Other artists like Anusree, Mahima Nambiar, Jagapathi Babu, Vijaya Raghavan, Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar, Ramesh Pisharody, Nobi, M R Gopakumar, Santhosh Keezhattor, Baiju Ezhupunna, Anna Rajan, Shamna Kasim, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sunny Leone etc also done their part to perfection.
DOP from Shaji had really become the backbone of this film which set the tone of this movie and created a mass atmosphere to tell the story. The action sequences choreographed by the master fighter Peter Hein was awesome and one of the best we saw here in Mollywood. Gopi Sundar once again delivered terrific background score and some energetic songs for this flick. Editing by Mahesh Narayanan and Sunil S Pillai was great as well as it had given a smooth pace to the proceedings on the screen.
In total, Madhura Raja is a complete mass masala action flick which will satisfy the fans of Mammootty and lovers of mass films alike. It will not disappoint you for sure and will give you the excitement which you are expecting from a mass family entertainer.
