Kayamkulam Kochunni shortlisted for 91st Oscar awards
Kayamkulam Kochunni, the biggest grosser in Mollywood this year had once again made Malayalam Cinema Proud. It had made a place among 347 films shortlisted for 91st academy awards. This movie found a place in the preliminary nomination list and we have to wait and see whether this movie can make it to the final set of nomination.
Roshan Andrews had directed this movie with Nivin Pauly in the lead and it has been written by Bobby and Sanjay. Gokulam Gopalan had directed this movie under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. It had grossed around 68 crores from its worldwide run and had done business around 90 crores.
Nivin Pauly played the title character named Kayamkulam Kochunni and Mohanlal played the character named Ithikkara Pakki. This historical movie was made using a budget of around 40 crores and become one of the biggest hits in Mollywood.
From Malayalam, Jayaraj’s Bhayanakam and Resul Pookutty starrer Sound Story too found its place in this shortlist for 91st Oscar awards.
