Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ ignites anticipation with release of first song ‘Paaraa’
Fans of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan rejoice! The wait is over for the first song from the highly anticipated sequel ‘Indian 2’. Titled ‘Paaraa’, the song boasts the musical talents of Anirudh Ravichander, both as composer and vocalist, alongside Shruthika Samudhrala.
While the lyrical video doesn’t offer glimpses from the film itself, a closer look reveals a deeper dive into the backstory of Kamal Haasan’s character, Senapathy. The powerful lyrics paint a picture of Senapathy’s role as a beacon of hope for his people. The animation depicts a valiant warrior fighting against the British Raj during the Indian Independence movement, with his love yearning for his safe return.
This sequel picks up the story from the 1996 blockbuster ‘Indian’, which starred Kamal alongside Manisha Koirala, Urmila Mathondkar, and Sukanya. The original film, known for its impactful music by A.R. Rahman, captivated audiences with the tale of a freedom fighter turned vigilante. ‘Indian’ concluded with an open ending, leaving the door wide open for a sequel.
Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy in ‘Indian 2’, while the details surrounding the characters played by Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh remain under wraps. Production for the film began in 2019 but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a set accident.
However, the wait is finally nearing its end! “Indian 2” is scheduled to hit the silver screen on July 12th in all South Indian languages, along with a Hindi version titled “Hindustani 2.” Additionally, a Telugu version titled “Bharateeyudu 2” is confirmed.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Buzz suggests that fans can expect a teaser for “Indian 3” alongside the release of part two. Director Shankar reportedly plans to release the third installment within six months of “Indian 2,” with filming for both parts having been completed consecutively.
In the meantime, Kamal Haasan keeps busy. He’s currently filming “Thug Life” with Mani Ratnam and will even make a cameo appearance in Nag Ashwin’s upcoming sci-fi film “Kalki 2898 AD,” starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Kajal Aggarwal also has a release on the horizon with her film “Sathyabhama” hitting theaters on May 31st.
