Georgettan’s Pooram Review: A Dileep Show all the way!
Georgettan’s Pooram, the much-anticipated movie starring Dileep and Rajisha Vijayan had hit the screens here in Kerala this Saturday (April 1). It was written by YV Rajesh and directed Dr. Love movie fame director K Biju. Shivani Suresh, Arun Ghosh, and Bejoy Chandran had financed this movie under the banner of Chand V Creations and Shivani Entertainments. This movie had released in and around 130 screens in Kerala alone. This is the first release of Dileep this year. The trailer and songs of the movie got the attention from audience weeks before as well.
The film revolves around the character played by Dileep and his name in this movie is George Vadakkan. He is the son of Father Mathews Vadakkan played by Renji Panicker. His father wants him to become a priest, but he is roaming around his hometown of Thrissur with his friends without any aim in life. He and his friend always meet and spend time at local ground named Mathayi Parambu. The film flows forward when a girl named Merlin comes in his life and also some issue happens related to the above mentioned local ground.
We have to say that K Biju had given a very good entertainer in this vacation season as he had presented the simple plot in a very pleasant manner. The plot has everything in it for the fun loving viewers. It has comedy, songs, sentiments, action and thrill as well. The screenplay by YV Rajesh is by far his best and some comedy situations were really hilarious as well The Thrissur slang was used to good effect and fun moments between friends were utilized very well too. The sentiments scenes also worked out and they never tried it make the proceedings complicated. They kept it simple and provided a decent entertainer for the viewers. Even though there are some double meaning jokes, most of the comedy numbers were good. The flick was predictable in the second half as well. But they had succeeded in giving a thrilling climax which saved the movie.
Dileep was cool and hilarious as George and he had took some great physical effort for this movie as well. It was a really energetic performance from him. Vijay Fort and Sharafudeen were hilarious too and their one liners received with great applause. Renji Panicker was as usual given a matured performance and Rajisha Vijayan too had given a composed performance even though she did not have much of a role in it. Chemban Vinod Jose, Sudheer Karamana, Harish Kanaran, Thiru, Sunil Sugatha, Asim Jamal, Kalaranjini etc were also good. But the standout performer in this movie was TG Ravi who had given a stunning performance in it as Joseph.
The DOP from Vinod Illampilly was cool and music from Gopi Sundar was decent as well. Lijo Paul had edited the flick and he did a fine job as well. Even though the film is 2.35-hour length, we will never get bored.
In Total, Georgettan’s Pooram is a good entertainer which you can watch with your families and it will not disappoint you for sure. Dileep was in his elements and that is enough to make you enjoy this movie.
