Crossroad Movie Review

The different segments of this movie tell the story of 10 women and it celebrates the womanhood. Ten short films of 15 minutes length have been combined together and in each segment, prominent female artists from Mollywood played the lead characters. The movies tell us about the vibrant and variant facets in the lives of women and all the stories have been told from the perspective of women. Oru Ratriyude Kooli, directed by Madhupal, featuring Padmapriya in the lead. The final one is a directed by Lenin Rajendran, titled Pinpe Nadappaval which features debut actress Anjana Chandran in the lead.

We have to say that each and every filmmaker who worked in this movie had done their best to present the perspective of women through their shot movies. They told us what a woman feels while she goes through the different situations in life and how she cop-up with all those situations. It tells us what they really think and feel when they were suppressed and what they want to do when the society looks at them with a prejudiced mind. Jayaraj, Lenin Rajendran, Sashi Paravoor, Babu Thiruvalla and Nelson Alex had written the screenplay for this movie and they had done a very good job by including the different aspects of a woman’s life in those stories. All those short movies were really engaging ones and that itself makes this anthology a great watch.

The lead characters in these short films were played by artists like Isha Talwar, Mamta Mohandas, Padmapriya, Richa Panai, Srinda Ashab, Mythili, Anjali Aneesh Upasana, Priyanka Nair, Manasa Radhakrishnan, Sobha Mohan, Sidharth Siva, Manoj K. Jayan, Vijay Babu, Chethan Jayalal, Kailash, Anjana Chandran, Punnaseri Kanchana etc and all of them had done a terrific job. We can’t mention anyone specifically here because everyone had done their part to perfection. Still, if we have to mention some names, we will say that Srinda, Mamta Mohandas, Padmapriya etc deserves applause for their most natural performance.

Cinematographers like Madhu Ambat, M J Radhakrishnan, Alagappan, KG Jayan, Prathap P Nair, Sunil Prem, Nikhil S Praveen and Gowtham Lenin had worked in this anthology movie and all of them had given great visuals which really helped each short segments to create an atmosphere to tell the story. Sooraj S Kurup, M.Jayachandran, Bijibal, Ramesh Narayanan, Ajay Thilak and Anitha Sheikh had tuned the music and they too did a fine job by creating some soulful music. Jith Joshie, Mahesh Narayanan, Raja Mohammed, Karthik Jogesh, C R Sreejith, Abhilash Viswanath, Sandeep Nandhakumar and Sujesh S are the editors worked in this anthology film and they had made the film a technically sound one through their sharp and crisp editing skills.

In total, Crossroad is a must watch movie experience which will entertain you and at the same time will make you think as well. It can be called one of the best films that had celebrated womanhood in detail. Don’t miss it.
