Angamaly Diaries Movie Review: A Realistic Movie Experience Guaranteed!

This is a great time for Malayalam Cinema as this year start with some good movies and some great successes. Angamaly Diaries had released in this happy situation and this is the right situation for a movie, especially one with full of new faces, to hit the big screens here. This movie directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery had script written by popular actor Chemban Vinod. Vijay Babu had produced this flick under the banner of Friday Film House. Angamaly Diaries which released here on this Friday had become the surprise winner of this week and now on its way to becoming a genuine box office success this year.

The plot of this flick revolves around the city of Angamaly as the title suggests and the male lead in this movie has been played by a debutant named Antony Varghese. Along with him, more than 80 newcomers had made their debut through this movie. Antony Varghese had played the character named Vincent Peppe and the film focuses on the incident, twists and turns happen in the happy-go-lucky kind of life of him and his friends. Bheeman, Kanakuna Marty, Appani Ravi, Clamp Rajan, Parippu Marty, 10ml Thomas etc are the main characters in this movie.

Lijo Jose Pellisserry had undoubtedly delivered a classic this time and this movie can be counted among one of the best realistic entertainer ever made in Mollywood. It was raw, energetic, intense, realistic, deep, emotional and at times hilarious as well. It has everything in it to make you entertained and at the same time remains down to earth and 100% convincing. The screenplay by Chemban Vinod was terrific and he really got it all right. The soul of Ankamaly is present in the movie and the dialogues in local slang were superb as well. Lijo Jose Pellisserry once again shown to the world that, when it comes to making realistic entertainers he is second to none in Malayalam Cinema.

The performances of all the newcomers were just stunning to say the very least. Each one of them given their best and they did not play the character but they just lived a life on silver screen. Everything and everyone looked real when they performed with utmost perfection. Antony Varghese, who played the hero character Vincent Peppe, can be the next big thing in Mollywood. Chemban Vinod had appeared in a small cameo as himself in the movie.

The DOP was the soul of this movie. Gireesh Gangadharan will be counted among one of the best ever Cinematographers in Mollywood from now on. The climax sequences were simply astonishing and hats off to Gireesh and Lijo for pulling that off. The music composed by Prashant Pillai was cool and it really blended with the local atmosphere in the movie. Editing by Shameer Muhammad was clean and sharp as well.

In total, Angamaly Diaries is a never to miss kind of cinematic experience and it is a movie that will take you into the world where the characters are living. You will feel that you are one among them and you will feel like them as well. Don’t miss it at any cost.
