Take Off Movie Review: Mollywood’s Take Off to World Cinema!

Take Off, the debut directorial venture of popular editor Mahesh Narayanan, hit the screen here in Kerala this Friday. The movie which is based on a real-life event is written by Mahesh himself.

This flick has been produced by Anto Joseph and Shebin Bucker together, under the banner of Rajesh Pillai Films. The movie has a fantastic star cast as well which includes, Fahad Fazil, Kunchacko Boban, Parvathy and Asif Ali. Two trailers of this flick had released and both of them got a fabulous response from the film lovers here and those trailers really made it a much-anticipated movie of this year as well.

As we said above, the plot of this flick revolves around a real life incident that happened during Iraq War in 2014, when some Indian Nurses got trapped in the war zone. The film shows us what really happened in Iraq and how the Indian nurses were rescued from there. The extraction plan and all that takes the center stage along with the sufferings of those nurses there. Kunchacko Boban and Parvathy plays Shahid and Sameera, who are among the nurses who were trapped in Tikrit, Iraq, Fahad Fazil plays the Indian Ambassador who leads the extraction plan.

Mahesh Narayanan had come up with something terrific and Take Off is one of the best ever movies in this genre in Indian Cinema. We saw Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift last year, which also told the same theme. It was a wonderfully made movie as well. To come up with a movie like Airlift in our small Malayalam film industry is a pretty tough task as there is always a financial constraint exists here. But Mahesh Narayan and crew had done it in style. He had presented the plot with absolute conviction without losing its intensity, depth, emotional quality and above all presented it with utmost honesty. Technically too, this film is far superior to many recent movies released here in Mollywood. Mahesh Narayanan definitely made his debut with a bang here.

The performances that came from each and every artist in this movie has been great. Fahad Fazil had done a fabulous job as usual and Kunchacko Boban too did very well. Parvathy once again comes up with a brilliant performance and she towered everyone with her performance in it. Asif Ali played a cameo role and he too did fine. Other artists like Prakash Belawadi, Devi Ajith, Alencier, Sidharth Siva, Joju Geirhe, Anjali Aneesh Upasana etc also played their part to perfection.

The music department was handled by Shan Rahman who tuned the songs and Gopi Sundar who composed the background score. Both of them did great. Visuals were given by Sanu John Varghese and he had elevated the movie to another level of technical perfection with his terrific visuals. It was edited by Mahesh Narayanan and Abhilash Balachandran and their efforts made the film to flow forward smoothly.

Take Off is indeed a never to miss kind of movie experience, as we only get to see such wonderfully made aesthetically good movies very rare. It has class in it and at the same time will entertain you as a cinema. It is technically superior along with keeping a quality of its own in the way of presenting a real life subject.
