Hat-trick 50 Crore Club Movies for Mohanlal; Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol enters the list!
We reported earlier that Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is almost near the prestigious 50 Crore club. Now, it is official that the movie enters the 50 crore club. Super Star Mohanlal himself announced the great news through his official facebook page.
With this achievement, Mohanlal becomes the only Mollywood actor to register 3 consecutive fifty crore club movies. His previous movies Oppam and Pulimurugan enters the fifty crore club months before. Remarkably, all these three movies are of different genres. A crime thriller movie Oppam, action adventure movie Pulimurugan and now, a family movie Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. All these Mohanlal movies opened with mostly positive reviews and then tasted great box office successes.
Interestingly Mohanlal is the one who introduces the 50 Crore club as well as 100 crore club in Mollywood. It was through the Mohanlal starrer mega blockbuster movie Pulimurugan Mollywood witnessed the historical entry to 100 crore club. Pulimurugan also opened space for Malayalam movies in the international market.
Including the 2013 blockbuster movie Drishyam, Mohanlal in total has four 50 Crore Club movies in Mollywood, the maximum for a Mollywood actor.
In Munthrivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Mohanlal plays the role of a Panchayath Secretary named Ulahannan while actress Meena essays the role of Annyamma, wife of Ulahannan.
